

Born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on December 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Dolores Rodriguez and Dolores Ortiz Pagan. Luis lived in Hartford for over 30 years before moving to East Hartford 26 years ago, where he continued to build a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.
Luis was a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He found joy in yardwork, music, and especially in the time spent with those he loved most. His steady presence, strong work ethic, and deep love for family will be remembered always.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Luis Antonio Rodriguez, and his sister, Carmen Rodriguez.
He leaves to cherish his memory three sons: Jose Luis Rodriguez Diaz of Ciales, Puerto Rico; Angel Luis Rodriguez and his wife Daisy Rodriguez; and David Rodriguez and his wife Brenda Rodriguez, all of East Hartford. He is also survived by three daughters: Carmen Luisa Rodriguez of East Hartford, with whom he made his home; Carmen Iris Villegas and her husband Carlos of North Brunswick, NJ; and Mariluz Rodriguez of Windsor Locks.
Luis also leaves five brothers: Hector Rodriguez (Nilda), Oscar Rodriguez (Aurora), Carlos Rodriguez (Juanna), Angel Rodriguez (Eliza), and Diego Rodriguez (Maria); and five sisters: Lydia Rodriguez (Raul), Migdalia Rodriguez (Angel), Virgen Rodriguez (Edwin), Aida Rivera (Dionisio), and Flor Rodriguez (Benigno), all of Ciales, Puerto Rico. He was blessed with nine special grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends and relatives may call at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford prior to the mass from 10:30 am – 11:30 am.
