
Marie F. Otto, 92, of East Hartford, died on Friday (June 24, 2011) at a local nursing home. Born in Hartford on August 4, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Flora (Youngman) Otto, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Marie was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1936. She was a member of the King's Daughters, and a faithful and active long-time member of South Congregational Church of East Hartford where she participated in the choir. She also volunteered many years at the local soup kitchen and was an avid reader and a lover of cats. Prior to her retirement, Marie was employed for many years in the banking industry as a Customer Service Representative. Besides her beloved parents, Marie was predeceased by her brother, Carl W. Otto of East Hartford, and a nephew, Thomas W. Otto of Middle Haddam. Marie is survived by a sister-in-law, Blanche G. Otto of East Hartford; two nieces, Susan O. Stannard and her husband, Bruce, of East Hartford whom she relied on for care and assistance, and Joan Boone and her husband, Pete, of Houston, TX; a nephew, Donald C. Otto in Maine; a niece by marriage, Bonnie Fitch of Middle Haddam; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and many dear special friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday (June 29th) at 11 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with Rev. Henry Millan officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
