Mary (Cassello) Damaschi, 91, of East Hartford, loving wife of 70 years of Robert J. Damaschi, Sr., peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on September 5, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Diamente) Cassello, she had been a resident of East Hartford for over 65 years. Mary was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1945 and then went to work as one of the first female bank tellers at Society for Savings Bank. A devout catholic, Mary was a long-time faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church, East Hartford. Mary enjoyed music, listening to opera, and was a talented organ and piano musician. She also liked cooking for her family and friends. Most of all, Mary was a proud, devoted, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter who loved spending time with her family. In addition to her beloved husband, Mary is survived by three sons, Robert J. Damaschi, Jr. and his wife, Victoria, of Manchester, David P. Damaschi, Sr. and his wife, Eva-Jane, of Ashford, Mark J. Damaschi, Sr. and his wife, Maureen, of East Hartford; two daughters, Carol Damaschi-Bolduc of East Hartford, Lynne Damaschi-Gelineau and her husband, Brett, of East Hartford; seven cherished grandchildren, Craig Damaschi and his wife, Rande, of Wethersfield, David Damaschi, Jr. of East Hartford, Anthony Damaschi of Ashford, Nicole Damaschi, Brett Gelineau, Jacqueline Damaschi, and Mark Damaschi, Jr. all of East Hartford; two adored great-grandchildren, Hayden and Sienna Damaschi both of Wethersfield. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Cassello of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by a son-in-law, Albert G. Bolduc of East Hartford; and two brothers, Peter Cassello and John Cassello, both of East Hartford.

Funeral service will be Monday (October 8th) at 10 a.m. from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, corner of Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section R-2), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday afternoon (October 7th) from 2 – 5 p.m. Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice. My deepest sympathy to Mary's family. She was so proud of all of you. I am happy to have shared our grandchildren together. She loved you so much and we had many happy times together. Her struggles are over now and she can be at peace. Please take comfort in the knowledge that she will be watching over you always.
