Mary Taylor

Mary was born on August 14th, 1943, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, daughter of John M. and Millie (Donatelli) Gasper. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Francis V. and Joseph M. Gasper. She was also predeceased by her husband Thomas R. Taylor in 2022.

Mary spent her career as a civilian worker for the Department of Defense. She also served for a time at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco in the late 1960s. It was during her time in Morocco that she met her husband, Tom. They would settle for a time in Houston, Texas where they welcomed their daughter Maribeth before moving back east and relocating to Mary’s hometown of East Hartford, Connecticut

She was an active parishioner of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church of Hartford serving as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at The House of Bread. She forged many close and lasting relationships with people through her involvement with the church.

Her Italian roots were important to her and informed her favorite meals, wines, and travel destinations. The yearly Serafini-Donatelli-Pascucci reunion was always a highlight for her where she shared memories and reconnected with her cousins.

Mary leaves behind her daughter Maribeth (Taylor), Cunha of South Windsor and her husband Todd and their children (Mary’s treasured and adored granddaughters) Leah and Maddie.

Her family would like to thank the support, comfort, and care that Mary received in her final days by her friends from St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice Care, and Tender Hands Home Care Agency.

Funeral service will be on Saturday (September 19th) with a memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. A brief reception celebrating Mary’s life will be immediately after her funeral mass in The Franciscan Center for Urban Ministry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to the Southwest Indian Foundation, 100 West Coal Avenue, Gallup, NM, 87301 a charity close to Mary’s heart that works to lessen poverty and unemployment in the Native American communities of the Southwest.
