Mary Ellen (Robertson) Wallace, 95, formerly of East Hartford, died Friday, October 9, 2026, at Touchpoints of Manchester. Born January 25, 1931, in Conway, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Hilma (Davis) Robertson. She lived in Brattleboro, Vermont, prior to making her home in the East Hartford area.
For many years Mary Ellen was a waitress at The Red Coach Grill in Wethersfield, where her smile and laugh were contagious. She loved a good meal out and enjoyed exploring the towns and sights close to home.
She adored her grandchildren and greeted them every time with her familiar “Who loves you?” She always kept their favorite treats on hand for visits, cheered them on at their school and special events, and treasured their weekly dinners out together. She looked forward to the family reunions in Florida every other year, the Labor Day gatherings with her brothers and sisters and their families, and Christmas Eve celebrations. She loved to sing, especially at family holidays while her father played the guitar.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Vivier of Meriden and Gary Wallace of Glastonbury; her stepchildren, Judith Wallace and William Wallace; her grandchildren, Sean Vivier, Michelle Vivier and Stephanie Vivier-Hinks; five great-grandchildren; her step-grandchildren; her brother, Harold Robertson, and his wife, Pat; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Wallace, and by her siblings Herbert Robertson, Stanley Robertson and Sandra Amand.
The family extends special thanks to Bruce Richardson and Paula Mulligan for their gracious help and friendship to Mary Ellen over the years.
A private graveside service and burial will be held for the family at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, where Mary Ellen will be laid to rest beside her husband, William.
