Maryellen “Mare” (Barry) Guidotti, 85, of East Hartford, loving wife of 60 years of the late Eugene A. Guidotti, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021. Born in Hartford on November 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Thomas and Irene (Foley) Barry, she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. “Mare” was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1953 and a long time communicant of the former St. Isaac Jogues Church in East Hartford. Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years at G. Fox & Co. in Hartford, Marlin Firearms in East Hartford, and Connecticut Bank & Trust Co. in Hartford. “Mare” and her late husband Gene were members of the Luna Club in Hartford and spent the winter months for several years as “Snow Birds” down at Satellite Beach, Florida. She loved the beach, ocean, and floating on her raft in her swimming pool. She enjoyed playing bingo at St. Isaac Jogues Church Hall, St. Mary’s Church Hall and the Army-Navy Club in Manchester. She also loved visiting the area casinos, shopping, reading, and gardening (especially taking great pride in her hibiscus flowers). Most of all, Maryellen was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who faithfully supported them at their school activities and sporting events.
Maryellen is survived by her caring son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. Guidotti and his wife Cathy of West Hartford; seven adored grandchildren, Mark A. Guidotti, Jr. and his girlfriend, Amy Tran, of East Windsor, Brenna Portner and her husband Henri of New York City, NY, Alexandria Merked and her partner, John Scurry, of West Hartford, Haley Guidotti of West Hartford, Anthony Guidotti, Spencer Guidotti and Capri Guidotti all of Ellington. She also leaves four cherished great-grandchildren, Mia Guidotti, Jackson Scurry, Marley Scurry, and Vincent Bujnowski; a sister, Cecilia Tedone of South Windsor; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Guidotti of Newington, Diana Barry of Indiana; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Maryellen was predeceased by a son, Thomas E. Guidotti of East Hartford; and a brother, Thomas Barry of Indiana.
Funeral service celebrating Maryellen’s life will be Friday (August 6th) at 12 noon at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Private burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford at the convenience of the family.
