Matthew Martin Hope

Matthew Martin Hope, 64, formerly of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 20, 2023. Born in Hartford on September 23, 1958, a son of the late Arthur T. and Lorraing E. (Gangloff) Hope, he had resided in the East Hartford area for most of his life. Matthew was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, and was employed for many years as a Security Guard at several area businesses.

Matthew is survived by two daughters, Catherine Hope of Bristol, RI and Emily Hope of Buffalo, NY; a sister, Christine Castagna and her husband Vinny of East Hartford; three brothers, Brian Hope and his wife Joyce of Little River, SC, Mark Hope and his wife Patricia of East Hartford, and Stephen Hope of Vernon. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Linda Hope of Hebron; a grandson; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Hope of East Hartford; and three brothers, Michael Hope of East Hartford, Brett Hope of Hebron, and Robert Hope of East Hartford.

Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
