Michael Javier Nunez, 18, of East Hartford, peacefully passed away on Monday, (October 30, 2006) surrounded by his loving, caring parents and brother at Hartford Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on September 1, 1988, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, a son of Juan R. and Jeanette (Quinones) Nunez, he had resided in East Hartford for most of his life. Michael was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 2006 and was presently enrolled as a freshman at Central Connecticut State University. Michael was employed by Boston Market Restaurant, Glastonbury, where he was training to be a manager. Michael enjoyed playing basketball and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church CYO team, and was an avid football fan, especially of the New York Giants. He also was a former coach of youth soccer for the East Hartford Soccer Association. Besides his beloved parents of East Hartford, Michael is survived by his brother, Brian J. Nunez at home in East Hartford; his paternal grandparents, Amelia and Reinaldo Nunez of Carolina, Puerto Rico; his maternal grandmother, Nadia Rodriguez of New Britain; three special aunts, Graciela Quinones of East Hartford, Magda Quinones of East Hartford, Binex Jones and her husband Mark in Idaho; and many dear friends. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
