Myrtle Bernice (Kiedasch) Rohner, 100, of East Hartford, loving wife of 50 years of the late Bernardus Rohner, Jr., peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation & Nursing in Glastonbury. Born in Glastonbury on September 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Henry and Alma (Schonhaar) Kiedasch, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 72 years. Myrtle was a proud graduate of Glastonbury High School, class of 1944.
Myrtle worked for over fifteen years at Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford. She was talented at knitting and crocheting and would often do different things for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She also liked making ceramics, cooking, and baking. She was famous for her phenomenal holiday meals, and home-made chocolate chip cookies that she would make for everyone to enjoy. Most of all, Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was the ultimate caregiver of her family.
Myrtle is survived by her two sons, Richard “Rick” Rohner and his wife Krystine of Punta Gorda, FL, and Robert “Bobby” Rohner and his wife Maryanne of East Hartford; her daughter, Karen Mytych and her husband John of Vernon; five adored grandchildren, Lindsey Rohner of East Hartford, Douglas Rohner and his wife Audrey of West Hartford, David Rohner and his fiancée Xheni Tema of Hamden, Ashley Saunders and her husband Eric of Broad Brook, Joshua Mytych of Vernon; six cherished great-grandchildren, Paityn, Jillian, Noah, Ethan, Madeline, and Wryker; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Myrtle was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Mitchell of Bristol and Evelyn Schwarm of Glastonbury.
Funeral service will be Friday (October 9th) at 10:30 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, (Section 15), Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Myrtle’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday morning (October 9th) from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Myrtle’s name may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
