

Nicholas “Nick” A. Capano, 94, of East Hartford, loving husband of over 69 years of Audrey (Dandurand) Capano, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford. Born in Revere, MA on June 12, 1923, the son of the late Bruno and Rose (Ventola) Capano, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 62 years. Nick was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford, Class of 1941 and Penn State University in State College, PA. Nick was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. A former owner and operator of the Keney Park Restaurant in Hartford from 1955 to 1962, Nick later went to work for the Hollander family at Hartford Distributors, Inc., Manchester where he retired after thirty years as a Manager. A devout Catholic, Nick was a former communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford for many years. Nick will be remembered as a hard-working gentleman who loved spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Audrey, Nick is survived by his daughter, Gloria C. Rager of Ellington; two adored grandchildren, Eric James Rager of Manchester, Lauren Ashley LaPointe and her husband Matthew of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and dear friends. Besides his parents, Nick was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Ann Capano of East Hartford.
Funeral service will be Friday (March 9, 2018) at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery-Veteran’s Memorial Field, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday morning from 10 – 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nick’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
