Nunzia “Nancy” M. Torretta, 51, of South Windsor, peacefully went to be with our Lord with her loving family by her side on Friday, September 1, 2023. Born in Hartford on June 3, 1972, a daughter of Joseph Torretta and the late Antonietta (Saladino) Torretta, she resided in East Hartford for many years and had been a resident of South Windsor since 2008.
Nancy was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1990 and the University of Connecticut, class of 1994 where she earned her B.S. Degree in Political Science. She continued her education at Quinnipiac University Law School in Hamden where she earned her Law Degree in 1997. Nancy was a Tax Attorney with many large firms for many years as well as having her own small legal practice in South Windsor where she primarily did “pro bono” work. She was a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and was a faithful communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in South Windsor.
Nancy was an avid reader, especially of Harry Potter. She enjoyed shopping, and gardening, but her favorite thing was traveling across the world with her son. She loved entertaining at her warm and loving home for family and friends and was known for her annual Halloween parties. She was also a fan of Fiorentina and the Italian national soccer team. Most of all, Nancy was a hard working woman who was a proud and devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend to those who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her adored son, Mauro Signorelli of Bolton; her father, Joseph Torretta of Bolton; and her brother, Dominic Torretta of Bolton.
Funeral service will be Friday (September 8th) with a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10 am at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi of the St. Junipero Serra Parish, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. The Torretta family has requested that everyone please go directly to the church on Friday morning. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Nancy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (September 7th) from 3-6 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
