Patricia A. "Patty" Misterka, 76, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Richard Misterka, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 18, 2026, following a brief battle with cancer. Born on September 29, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. Bagnall, Sr. and Margaret (Sullivan) Bagnall. Patty grew up in Hartford before settling in Glastonbury with her devoted husband, Richard, where they built their life, raised their family, and recently celebrated a remarkable 50th wedding anniversary. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn Basketball, and dearly loved her pet cats.
Professionally, Patty began her career at Travelers before dedicating her warmth and nurturing spirit to shaping young minds as a teacher at Kangaroo Kids Preschool in Glastonbury. However, her true calling and greatest achievement in life was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.
Patty is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Richard Misterka; her son, Timothy Misterka and his wife Heather of Wethersfield and her daughter, Kelly Muscaro and her husband Andrew of Newington. She was the adoring "Grammy" to her grandson, Logan Misterka, and affectionately known as "Pete" to her cherished granddaughter, Madison Muscaro.
She also leaves behind her brother, Arthur Bagnall and his wife Donna of Vernon; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Kathy Misterka of Kensington; as well as her nieces and nephews: Mike Misterka and his wife Ying, Kyle Bagnall and his wife Laura, Kim Daigle and her husband Mike and Kristina Carlson and her husband Jason. Patty’s kindness, gentle guidance, and unconditional love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Chapel Prayer Service will be held Thursday, October 22 at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patty’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org or the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111 or online at www.cthumane.org
