Patrick Francis Griffin Jr.

Patrick Griffin Jr., 87, of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 2, 2026 at Hartford Hospital with family by his side. Born in Hartford on June 28, 1939 to the late Patrick Sr. and Annie (Kelly) Griffin, Pat grew up in Hartford. After graduating from Hartford Regional Tech (now A.I. Prince Tech), he accepted a job at Pratt & Whitney, where he worked for over 40 years until his retirement. Pat was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Carol Lee (Hunt), in 2017, after 30 years together. His happiest memories were of the times he and Carol Lee made their winter trips to Florida and spent summers in New Hampshire with Carol’s family or just reading a good book.

Patrick is survived by his step-daughter Candace Hammond (Steven) of East Hartford, step-grandchildren Brandon and Alexis, two great grandchildren, sisters Kathleen Gibbs (John) of Uxbridge MA, Tery Griffin (Deb Cohen) of Wilmington, DE, brother Rev. Thomas Griffin of Colchester, CT, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife Carol Lee, Pat was predeceased by his brothers John, Robert, Gerald, Joseph and brother-in-law John Gibbs.

Funeral service will be Tuesday (October 6th) at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday morning from 9:30 -11:00 am. Services will be held at 11:00am with burial immediately following at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Patrick’s name may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
