
Paul J. Costello, 78, of East Hartford, beloved husband of Patricia (Donnelly) Costello, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, (February 3, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with his loving family by his side. Born in Somerville, MA on May 21, 1930, a son of the late Timothy and Helen Costello, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1967. Paul was a graduate of Boston College and a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Glennon (DD-840) during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Paul was employed by the Capital Region Education Council (CREC) and the town of East Hartford Board of Education as Director of Finance. Paul enjoyed boating and football, especially being a fan of the New England Patriots. However, Paul was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Along with his caring wife, Patricia, of over 53 years, Paul is survived by five sons, Timothy J. Costello and his wife Theresa, of East Haven, Guy P. Costello and his wife Phyllis, of Chesterfield, VA, Michael P. Costello of Old Lyme, John A. Costello and his wife Donna, of Manchester, Paul J. Costello Jr. and his wife Mavourneen, of Vernon; a daughter, Patricia Costello Read and her husband Christopher, of Old Lyme; a brother, Leo Costello and his wife Elaine, of Hull, MA; 11 special grandchildren; two adored great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be at Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
