

Paul Ramondetta, 103, of Ashford, formerly of East Hartford, husband of the late Mary Buccheri, died peacefully Monday, October 13, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born March 28, 1911 in Sortino, Sicily and was the son of the late Luciano Ramondetta and Vincenza Salemi. Paul served proudly in the US Army during WW II. He was assigned to the Medical Detachment, 255th Infantry, 63rd Division. Paul was captured in Germany while serving as a medic and became a prisoner of war. Paul owned and operated Allure Beauty Salon in Manchester for over 30 years. He was formerly the President of the Hairdressers Association and a member of the Young Italians. He enjoyed the simple things of life, a good dish of pasta, gardening, giving his grandchildren haircuts, his family and most of all, Mary, his beloved wife of 64 years. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Susan Brodie and husband, Peter of Ashford, with whom he made his home, Paula Barakos and husband, Peter of Meriden, Linda Demonstranti of East Hartford, Richard P. Ramondetta and wife, Kathy of Glastonbury, 10 grandchildren, Matt Brodie and wife, Jen, Nicole, Marissa and Stephen Brodie, Peter R. Barakos, Amanda, Lindsay and Sara Demonstranti, Rich Ramondetta and wife, Rebeca, Lisa Ramondetta and three great grandchildren, Nathan, Isaac and Adriana, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, James, brothers, Sebastian and Joseph and his sister, Gesarina Ramondetta.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Hartford with full military honors.
