Pauline L. Bilodeau, 83, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Raymond R. Bilodeau, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Pauline was born on January 6, 1938 in Fall River, MA to Leo Belanger and Flora (St. Laurent) Belanger. She was a longtime resident of East Hartford, graduating with honors from East Hartford High School in 1955 and then earning an Associate of Science Degree from Bay Path Junior College. She first worked as a Paralegal secretary in a prestigious Hartford law firm, then as an Executive Legal Secretary at Aetna Life Insurance Company.
Pauline later left the business world to help raise her daughter, perform many volunteer activities for her parish school, and become a licensed real estate agent. She was an avid reader and became well-versed in astrology, spiritual issues, yoga and health maintenance. She loved playing organ music and cooking specialty French Canadian dishes for family gatherings. Her keen interest in - and eye for - fashion, as well as her poise, led many customers to ask for her advice on outfits while she was clothes shopping. Throughout life her devotion to God never wavered and set an example to all. Her kindness and compassion for others developed many lasting friendships over the years, both at home and at her summer cottage on the south shore of Rhode Island. Pauline will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her daughter, Leslie B. Placzek and husband Gary of South Windsor and their two sons, Benjamin and Zachary, her sister Vivian Twarkins and husband John of East Hartford, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Maurice Belanger.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Pauline’s life will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11 am at St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Private burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Glastonbury was held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pauline’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
