

Rene Gaston Parenteau, 82, of Glastonbury and formerly of Hartford, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his home. Born in Woonsocket, RI on January 27, 1932, a son of the late Phillippe and Virginie (Lambert) Parenteau, he had resided in Hartford for over 40 years prior to moving to Glastonbury over 12 years ago. Rene was a graduate of Bryant College in Smithfield, RI where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Prior to his retirement, Rene was employed for over 37 years by Aetna Life & Casualty Insurance Company, Hartford. He was a former member of the French Club in Hartford and was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Rangers, New York Giants, and Boston Red Sox.
Rene is survived by two brothers, Raymond A. Parenteau and his wife, Lynn, of Glastonbury; Joseph Roger Parenteau and his wife, Dorothy, of Woonsocket, RI; a niece, Gayle Bagley and her husband, William, and their two sons, Aidan and Devin, all of Cumberland, RI; a nephew, Gil Parenteau and his wife, Sue, of Woonsocket, RI; several dear friends and former co-workers. Besides his beloved parents he was predeceased by a brother, Phillippe Parenteau of Saint Petersburg, FL.
Private funeral service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
