

Rigoberto Verastegui, 83, of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, June 8, 2026. Born on January 4, 1943, in Tacna, Peru, a son of the late Victor and Raquel (Rojas) Verastegui, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past fourteen years. Prior to his retirement, Rigoberto was a self-employed taxi-driver for over 20 years. He loved soccer, especially as an avid, loyal fan of Alianza Lima. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Rigoberto is survived by his six devoted children, Jackeline Verastegui of Peru, Raquel Verastegui of East Hartford with whom he made his home, Rigoberto Verastegui of Hartford, Roberto Verastegui of Hartford, Ronald Verastegui of Hartford, and Ronny Verastegui of East Hartford; two brothers, Percy Cervantes and Pablo Cervantes both of Peru; two sisters, Elena Verastegui and Ruth Cervantes both of Peru; twenty special grandchildren; seventeen adored great-grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, former customers, and dear friends.
Funeral service celebrating Rigoberto’s life will be Thursday (June 11, 2026) at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours for Rigoberto will be Thursday morning form 10 – 11 am at the funeral home chapel.
