Rita Barabe

Rita (Martin) Barabe, 98, entered into eternal life and reunited with her late husband, Robert Barabe on August 13, 2024. Born in Ste-Anne, New Brunswick, Canada on September 21, 1925 to the late Henry and Marianne (Marquis) Martin. Rita moved to East Hartford, CT and became a citizen of the United States at a young age and enjoyed life with her husband. Prior to retirement, she worked as a packager at Pack-Rite in Newington. A devout catholic, Rita was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in East Hartford, and was also a member of AARP. In her free time, Rita enjoyed solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles.

Rita is survived by four sisters; Sister Noella Martin of Canada, Claudette Ringuette of Canada, Florence Rossignol of East Hartford, and Jacqueline Theriault and her husband Herve of Canada; along with several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides her husband, Rita is predeceased by two brothers Sylvio and Gerard Martin, one sister Jeanne Bustin, and two brother-in-laws Kenneth Rossignol and Raymond Bustin.

A Mass of Christian Burial and entombment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
