Robert ""Bob"" Crouse, 73, of East Hartford, died Sunday (July 29, 2012) after a short illness at St. Francis Hospital. Bob was born in Windsor, VT on August 25, 1938 to the late Harold and Katharine (Enright) Crouse. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Bob moved to Connecticut in 1960 and worked as a machinist and then a Foreman at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, retiring after 32 years. He then worked part-time as a machinist at Manchester Carbide for seven years. Bob was a faithful communicant of St. Christopher Church in East Hartford. He was also a former member of their Adult Social Club. Bob was a lifelong do-it-yourselfer and in his retirement years, he enjoyed creating furniture pieces in his workshop. He loved planting a vegetable garden every year and enjoyed picking blueberries. He also enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren, traveling, spending time at Augie & Ray's where he was fondly known as ""Bullet,"" and seeing extended family and friends. He leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Patricia (Sullivan) Crouse; his three children, Stephen J. Crouse and his fiancée Anne Talcott of Middletown, Melinda A. Aresta and her husband Paul of Deep River, and Andrew R. Crouse and his wife Patricia of Woodbury and his three beloved grandsons: Ethan and Ryan Aresta and Kyle J. Crouse. Bob is also survived by his sister, Joan Dow and her husband David of Hartland, VT; his brother, Richard Crouse and his wife Dolores of Wallingford; five nieces and two nephews.
Family and friends may visit the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Wednesday (August 1) from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday from the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. The burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.
