

Robert A. “Taxi Bob” Faucher, 64, formerly of East Hartford and Manchester, took his last ride on Sunday, March 22, 2015. Born in Hartford on August 10, 1950, a son of the late Lorraine J. Turner and Armand W. Faucher, he was a resident of East Hartford/Manchester for most of his life. “Taxi Bob” attended George J. Penney High School, East Hartford and was a decorated Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army earning one Bronze Service Star and other medals. Robert was a member of the VFW Post #2046 in Manchester and of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Robert was employed as a Taxi Cab Driver for 30 years in Manchester where he earned his nickname of “Taxi Bob”. Robert enjoyed going to Guido’s on Broad Street, Manchester daily for meals and camaraderie.
Robert is survived by five brothers, William H. Oren of Pittsfield, VT, Donald H. Faucher and his wife, Wendy, of Rocky Hill, David T. Faucher of Farmington, Stephen F. Faucher and his wife, Ellen, of Glastonbury, Kevin H. Gebhard, Sr. of East Hartford; a life-long friend, David Popoff of Manchester; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday (March 28th) at 11 am at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, Veteran’s Field #2, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday morning from 9:30 am to 11 am.
