

Robert 'Rob' Irving Judd, Jr., 61, of South Kingstown, RI and formerly of East Hartford, CT, journeyed home to join his son, Bryan, in Heaven on Friday, (June 25, 2010). He was the loving husband of Sally M. (Popik) Judd for 42 years. Born in Hartford on August 25, 1948, he was a son of Robert I. and Charlotte (Treggor) Judd of Manchester. Rob grew up and attended schools in East Hartford, attended East Catholic High School, Manchester, and graduated from George J. Penney High School, Class of 1966 in East Hartford. Rob was a proud U.S. Navy veteran during the Vietnam Era where he was a Sub Mariner who served on the USS Halfbeak. Prior to his retirement, Rob was employed for thirty-three years by the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier in Manchester, CT. Rob was a former communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford and a faithful communicant and lector at St. Mary's/St. James Church in Charlestown, RI. A man of great faith, Rob belonged to a small Christian community group at St. Christopher Church where he was also a lector, and often volunteered at the Rhode Island Center Assisting Those in Need-Food Pantry in Charlestown, RI. An avid outdoorsman, Rob enjoyed fishing, clamming, bodysurfing, boating, canoeing, motorcycle riding, running, and playing softball. He played softball for over twenty years with his fellow postal employees in leagues both in East Hartford and Manchester. He also ran and participated in the annual Manchester Thanksgiving Day Road Race for several years. Rob was a long-time loyal fan of the New York Yankees and of the UCONN basketball teams. However, Rob most of all was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Rob was predeceased by his only son, Bryan Sverre Judd of East Hartford. Along with his beloved wife, Sally, and his parents, Rob is survived by his two loving daughters, Shannon Andrea Noble of East Hartford, Emily Linnae Judd and her partner, Gosia Barczyk, of Rocky Hill; four adored grandchildren, Trenton Tyler Noble, Phoenix Bryan Noble, Cambden Avery Noble all of East Hartford, and Asyria Royelle Judd of Rocky Hill. He also leaves four brothers, Eric Judd and his wife, Dory, Peter Judd, Tim Judd and his wife, Lori, all of Manchester, and Patrick Judd stationed in Iraq with the Army National Guard; two sisters, Dr. Christine Amis and her partner, Marie, of South Yarmouth, MA, Andrea Laws and her fiancée, Yves Michaud, of East Hartford; a former son-in-law, Matt Noble of Southington; a special aunt, Evelyn Babella of Manchester; many nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow co-workers, and dear friends. Funeral services will be Thursday (July 1st) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Thursday morning). Burial with military honors will follow at East Cemetery, Manchester.
