Robert Paul “Shoe” Migliore, 80, of East Hartford, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was born in Hartford on May 8, 1946, the son of the late Joseph John and Carmella “Millie” (Crescimano) Migliore, and had been a resident of East Hartford since 1978.
Robert dedicated more than 50 years of his life to the shoe business, earning the beloved nickname “Shoe.” He spent 28 years working and managing Shoe-Town locations in Manchester and surrounding towns before joining Nine West Group, where he worked until his retirement in 2010.
A man of many passions, Robert especially loved fishing and playing billiards. He enjoyed watching Fox News and western movies, cheering on the New York Giants and Boston Red Sox, and spending time in the kitchen preparing some of his most famous dishes, especially his spaghetti sauce and Thanksgiving stuffing. He was known for his larger-than-life personality, and his ability to be the life of any party.
Above all else, Robert was a devoted family man. He was a proud father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who treasured the time he spent surrounded by the people he loved. His family was his greatest joy, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
Robert is survived by his son, Daniel Migliore of East Hartford; his daughter, Lisa Migliore of Enfield; his daughter-in-law, Janet Oliver of Broad Brook; a special nephew, Robert J. “Little Bobby” Migliore and his wife, Miranda, of Brooksville, FL, who was like a son to him; and his seven adored grandchildren, Isabella Migliore, David Garro, Grace Garro, Jacob Migliore, Mason Welch and his wife, Chelsea, Tyler Welch, and Christopher Oliver and his wife, Shannon.
He also leaves his brothers, Jack Migliore of Manchester and Anthony Migliore and his wife, Sharon, of Manchester; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Richard “Dickie” Migliore of Hartford, James “Jimmy” Migliore of East Windsor, and Joseph “Joey” Migliore of Glastonbury; and his sister, Sebastiana “Franny” Cornacchia of East Hartford.
Robert’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, September 3, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
