Robert “Bobby” A. Potvin, 74, loving husband of over 22 years of Maria (Escudero) Potvin, of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life with his beloved family by his side at his home on Thursday, October 30, 2025 after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on February 14, 1951, a son of the late Romeo and Anna (Disipio) Potvin, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Bobby was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1969 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over twenty years by the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford as a control operator. A talented 10-pin bowler, he bowled on several teams for many years at Silver Lane Bowling Alley in East Hartford. He was an avid loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys and liked going fishing with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, brother, and uncle who enjoyed ice cream and spending time with his loved ones.
In addition to his faithful wife Maria, Bobby is survived by three brothers, Richard Potvin and his wife Pauline of Naples, FL, Dennis Potvin and his wife Maria of Newington, Joseph Potvin and his significant other JoAnn MacBeth of Double Springs, AL; one sister, Susan Sheehan and her husband Michael of Niantic; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Along with his parents, Bobby was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Potvin of Wethersfield.
Funeral service will be Monday (November 10, 2025) at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Field #2 -Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. There are no calling hours.
