

Robert “Bob” L. Underwood, 67, of Glastonbury, life partner of the late Lisa Chotkowski, took his final ride on Monday, June 26, 2023. Born in Hartford on March 28, 1956, a son of the late Kenneth L. and Frances (Larrabee) Underwood, he had been a resident of the Glastonbury/East Hartford area for most of his life. Bob was a graduate of George J. Penney High School in East Hartford, class of 1974. He was employed by Aetna Insurance Company for 32 years as a Systems Engineer and was a long-time member of the Glastonbury Elks Lodge #2202. An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling in his motor home, and riding his motorcycles. Most of all, Bob was a devoted man who cherished every moment with his entire family and dear friends. Bob is survived by his four beloved children,
Dr. Stephanie Bennett and her husband Luke Bennett of Wallingford, Ian Underwood and his fiancée Kathryn Flexner of New York, NY, Alexis “Ally” Underwood of Glastonbury, Logan Underwood of Glastonbury; and two adored grandchildren, Blake Bennett and Harper Bennett both of Wallingford. He also leaves his two sisters, Elaine Dube and her husband Roger of East Hartford, Denise Trent and her husband Bruce of Vernon; his brother, Thomas Underwood and his wife Marge of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Bob was predeceased by his parents, his partner Lisa, and his sister, Linda Underwood of East Hartford.
Bob’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 4-7 pm. A public Celebration of Bob’s Life will be on Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2023 at the Glastonbury Elks Lodge, 98 Woodland Street, South Glastonbury starting at 2 pm. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. At Bob’s request, in lieu of donations please do an act of kindness by taking a child fishing!
