Romana (Pawluk) Swartz, 57, of East Hartford, loving wife of Michael Swartz, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Born on May 31, 1968, in Astoria, New York, she was the daughter of the late Roman and Wira (Karas) Pawluk.
Romana grew up in Manhattan and had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 20 years. Before retiring, she dedicated her career to working as a programmer in the pharmacy technology field.
Creative by nature, Romana enjoyed crafting and making jewelry, and she found joy in reading tarot cards. She had a deep love of gardening and flowers. A lifelong learner, she delighted in studying languages and spent time learning Ukrainian, French, Italian, Polish, and Spanish.
In addition to her devoted husband, Michael, Romana is survived by her sisters, Ezya Kurowyckyj and her husband Jerry, and their children George and Dianna; and Tita Iwasiwka and her children Peter and Marco. She also leaves her brother, Adrian “Opie” Pawluk and his son Hudson, as well as her beloved dog, Pippa.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 23, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. A funeral service will be held at a later date to be announced. There will be no burial.
