September 1, 1949 – May 31, 2019
Rosa (Reyes) Santana, 69, of Hartford, loving wife of 51 years of Luis Santana, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on September 1, 1949, a daughter of the late Esteban and Gabriela (Feliciano) Reyes.
Rosa had moved to Hartford with her family at the age of eight and graduated from Hartford High School. She married the love of her life immediately after graduating and devoted herself to her family and children. She had a passion for interior decorating, which happened most frequently in her children’s homes. Rosa was the living definition of sentimental, from locks of her children’s hair to her grandchildren’s first scribble on a piece of paper, she cherished every moment of life. She was a dedicated Abuelita to all of her grandchildren with whom she took care of for many years until they started going to school. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and attending family functions. Later in life she volunteered countless hours to being a caretaker to the elderly. Rosa’s legacy to her daughters and grandchildren was to “be kind, respectful, pursue your dreams and help make the world a better place”, all while being gracious.
Rosa will be deeply missed by her husband, Luis; her daughters, Elizabeth Santana, Norma Drennen and her husband Frankie, and the twins, Marisol and Maribel Santana; ten grandchildren, Kassidy and Tyler Drennen, Kiara, Kaylin, Kimora and Katie Freckleton, EJ Crawford, Justin Santana and Maya and Madison Boodhoo; three great-grandchildren, Landon Dawkins, Aaden and Carter Baker; a brother, Frank Reyes; two sisters, Felicita Texidor and her husband Adrian and Carmen Diaz and her husband Wilfredo; a special son-in-law, Eric Crawford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Rosa was sadly predeceased by her only son, Jose Santana.
Funeral service will be Thursday (June 6th) at 12 pm at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane, East Hartford.
