Ruth B. Maska

Ruth B. (Tefft) Maska, 78, of East Hartford, loving wife of 60 years of Richard Maska, Sr., peacefully entered eternal life on Saturday, October 18, 2025 to join her infant son in heaven. Born in Hartford on October 5, 1947, a daughter of the late Howard and Ruth (Wimble) Tefft, she had been a resident of East Hartford for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, Ruth was a CNA for over 40 years at area convalescent homes.

A devout catholic, she was a longtime faithful communicant of the former Blessed Sacrament Church in East Hartford. She was a talented crochet artist who loved making blankets and clothing for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener, especially known for her rose gardens throughout her yard. Ruth also was a terrific cook who enjoyed cooking and preparing dinners and holiday meals for her entire family. She also liked playing her favorite game, “candy soda crush”, which she played daily. Most of all, Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished every moment with her family.

Along with her husband Richie, Ruth is survived by a son, Richard Maska, Jr. of East Hartford; two daughters, Sandra Chartier and her husband John of East Hartford, Candace Maska and her husband Thomas Miller of East Hartford; nine adored grandchildren, Kasaundra, Richard III, Ruthann, Chesley, Wyatt, Louis, Shawn, Gabriel, and Joshua. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and dear friends. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by an infant son, Louis Maska of East Hartford.

Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
