Salvatore Frank Genovese

Salvatore Frank Genovese, Sr., 87, of East Hartford, loving husband for 61 years to Virginia M. (Sanzaro) Genovese, peacefully journeyed Home to join family members on Sunday (April 15, 2012). Born in New Britain on October 13, 1924, a son of the late Pietro and Rosa (Mandolfo) Genovese, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past fifty years. Prior to his retirement, Salvatore was employed for many years by the Town of East Hartford-Board of Education. He was a talented wood worker who liked making things around his home and for others to enjoy. He was a loyal fan of the New York Mets and enjoyed watching and participating in Candlestick Bowling at area bowling alleys. Besides his beloved wife, Virginia, Salvatore is survived by five sons, Salvatore F. Genovese, Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Peter P. Genovese of Winsted, Joseph P. Genovese of East Hartford with whom he made his home, Robert S. Genovese and his wife, Cheri, of Manchester, Steven M. Genovese of Vernon; a daughter, Sophie R. Roberts and her husband, Lloyd Jr., of Broad Brook; a brother, Sebastian Genovese of Plainville; a sister, Mary Fanciullo in California; a brother-in-law, Michael Sanzaro of Somers; a sister-in-law, Virginia Sanzaro of Wethersfield; thirteen special grandchildren; eight adored great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday (April 19th) at 6:30 p.m. at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday from 3:30- 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in Salvatore's name may be made to the American Heart Association , 5 Brookside Drive, P.O.
