Born on November 10, 1969, he was the son of the late Robert Jr. and Gail (Lawrence) Ruddy. A graduate of Lyman Memorial High School, Lebanon, CT, Class of 1988. Soon after graduation he traveled across country to California where he would begin his journey as an “adult". He would find his way home to CT, back with family a couple years later. Scott went on to work for his brother Rob as a roofer. Scott was also blessed to work and travel the country with his great and longtime friend Eric DeRoehn working with Allied van lines. Scott later went on to work with Commercial Tire in South Windsor where he had been working for the past couple of years.
Scott had a remarkable way of lighting up every room he entered. His infectious personality, quick wit, and humor drew people in, and he made everyone feel at ease. He was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, and he loved his truck. But it was his deep love for family that truly defined him. At every family gathering, Scott was the one entertaining the kids, making them laugh with his endless stories and jokes. His playful, big-kid-at-heart energy made him the favorite uncle, and he left a lasting impression on all the young ones who adored him.
Scott is survived by his brother Robert Ruddy of East Hartford; his sister Kim DeRoehn and her husband David of Lebanon; and his sister Chantelle Donovan Ruddy of East Hartford. He was a proud and cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews: Robert and his wife Marissa, Christopher, Carlee, and Chaniyah. Scott was also a loving great-uncle to Robbie and Charlie, and he leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and dear friends who will miss him dearly. Along with his parents, Scott is predeceased by his two brothers, Christopher Ruddy and Brett Donovan Ruddy.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Scott's life on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 2 pm - 4 pm at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. There is no burial. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.desopoeh.com
