

Shirley Ann (Doucette) Beaulieu, 77, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late Joseph E. Beaulieu, went to be with Our Lord on Monday, May 20, 2013 at her home with her caring family by her side. Born in Hartford on January 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Louis and Isabel (Bishop) Doucette, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past fifty years. Prior to her retirement she was employed for several years by Generis Caterers in East Hartford. Shirley liked gardening, baking, playing computer games, and playing Pokeno regularly with her sisters. She was also a talented crafts woman who loved making blankets and Afghans for others to enjoy. Most of all, Shirley was a proud home maker who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Kenny. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Robert Bell, a brother, Robert Doucette, and a sister, Theresa LaBreck. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Lillian Baker and her husband, Vincent, of East Hartford, Patricia Bell of East Hartford, and Susan Poitier and her husband, Keith, of East Hartford with whom she made her home; a son, John J. Beaulieu and his wife, Debbie, of Port St. Lucie, FL; nine special grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas and her husband, Elton, Vinette Baker, Carrie Howard and her husband, Brad, Otis Poitier and his wife, Melissa, Caleigh Poitier, Kyrsten Poitier, Keith Poitier, Jr., Kenneth Poitier, and John Beaulieu, Jr.; fourteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Louis Doucette, Jr. and his wife, Connie, of South Windsor; six sisters, Yvette DelGuidice of East Hartford, Geraldine Mulroy of South Windsor, Dorothy Hersom of South Carolina, Marjorie LaVoie of East Hartford, Diane Michaud and her husband, Philip, of Manchester, and Linda Campise of East Hartford; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be Friday (May 24th) at 11 am at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford with Pastor Donny Capps officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be Friday morning form 10-11 am at Crossroads Community Cathedral.
