

Solveig ""Sonny"" (Tucker) O'Brien, 81, of Glastonbury, loving wife for 44 years to the late William ""Bill"" O'Brien, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Hartford Hospital with family by her side. Born in Hartford on March 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Herbert B. and Svea (Lamberg) Tucker, she had been a resident of Glastonbury since 1961. Sonny was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1952. She was a proud dedicated home maker who was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sonny adored her grandchildren and encouraged and supported them at school and their activities. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her oldest grandchild, Ryan W. Foley of South Windsor. Solveig is survived by her four beloved children, Kevin F. O'Brien and his wife, Susan, of Vernon, Karin O. Foley and her husband, James, of South Windsor, Keith T. O'Brien and his wife, Joy, of South Windsor, Kreg W. O'Brien and his wife, Robin, of Colchester; her nine cherished grandchildren, Timothy O'Brien and his fiancée, Frances Muldoon, Sean O'Brien, Kaitlyn Foley, Kaleigh O'Brien, Kyle Foley, Paige O'Brien, Austin O'Brien, Connor O'Brien, and Braeden O'Brien. She also leaves two sisters, Sharon Tucker of Glastonbury, Sandra Christensen and her husband, Ted, of Granby; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and dear friends. A celebration of Solveig's life will be Friday (May 22nd) at 6 pm at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of her family. Solveig's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday afternoon from 3-6 pm at the funeral home chapel.
