
William J. ""Bill"" Daley, Jr., 77, of East Hartford, loving husband of Joan (Gavello) Daley, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, (November 29, 2006) at the Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Hartford, a son of the late William J. and Margaret (Sullivan) Daley, he was a life-long resident of East Hartford. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1947, and a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Bill was employed for 40 years by the Town of East Hartford Public Works Department. Bill was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2083, East Hartford as well as a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose-Lodge #1470, East Hartford. Bill and his wife used to be avid campers and spent 18 years at the Odetah Campground in Bozrah. Bill enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Wednesday morning Cheer Leader league at Silver Lane AMF Bowling Ally in East Hartford. However, Bill's greatest passion was his loyalty and devotedness as a fan of the Hartford Whalers and Boston Red Sox. Besides his beloved wife of 53 years, Bill is survived by two sons, William J. ""Bill"" Daley III and his wife Joanne of East Hartford, Michael D. Daley of East Hartford; a daughter, Mary E. LeBlanc and her husband Eric of Rocky Hill; a brother, Donald Daley of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Jean Tomaszewski of Jacksonville, FL; two special grandsons, Jeffrey A. Daley and Christopher J. Daley both of East Hartford; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Bill was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Gibbons, Margaret Daley, Dorothy Daley all formerly of East Hartford, and Lillian Harvey formerly of Manchester. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 2, at 11 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial with Military Honors will be at Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
