

William “Bill” Dixon Trinks, 92, of East Hartford, loving husband of the late Elvia (Person) Trinks, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 with his caring family by his side at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Hartford on September 7, 1924, a son of the late William H. and Emma (Dixon) Trinks, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Bill was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1942 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. While in the service, Bill served in North Africa, the Island of Corsica, France, Germany, and at the Battle of the Bulge. Prior to his retirement, Bill was employed for many years by the former Noble & Westbrook Manufacturing Company in East Hartford as a Tool Maker. A man of faith, Bill was over a 50-year member of South Congregational Church, East Hartford where he was formerly involved with several committees. A talented athlete, Bill was a semi-professional softball player in the 1940’s and 1950’s where he starred for the “Sunnyside Tavern” of East Hartford. He was also an avid and successful ten-pin bowler in the Hartford area. Bill loved to sing and had a career in music where he performed with the Silk City Barbershop Chorus of Manchester for over 35 years.
Bill is survived by his three devoted daughters, Kimberly S. Chambers and her husband Walter of Storrs, Sandra A. Miller and her husband Ed of Coventry, Linda L. Trinks of South Windsor; six special grandchildren, Keri Engman and her husband Matt, Kristy Ramsey, Sarah Stern and her husband Ben, Randy Miller, Bryan Miller, Sarah Miller; and four adored great-grandchildren, Jasmyne, Kailyn, Billy, Adelyn. He also leaves three brothers, Richard Trinks of Wallingford, Fred Trinks and his wife Maria of East Hartford, Ronald Trinks and his wife Nancy of South Windsor; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides his beloved wife and parents, Bill was predeceased by a brother, Robert Trinks, and his five sisters, Evelyn Jarow, Barbara Mellott, Beverly Bores, Lois Giguere, and June Green.
Funeral service will be Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery-Veteran’s Field #2, East Hartford. There are no calling hours.
