William ""Bill"" Bonetti, 87, beloved husband of Geraldine Bonetti passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 with his loving wife by his side. Bill was born in Hartford on November 4th, 1928 to Edith and Thomas Bonetti. He attended local schools and graduated from Wethersfield High School, class of 1947. Besides his parents, William was predeceased by his brothers Edward and Thomas Bonetti, and his close aunt, Pearl Pipoli, along with many other beloved relatives and friends. Bill worked for over 50 years as a residential Real Estate Appraiser, eventually working independently in this field. ""Billy"" was a friend to all and never hesitated to lend a hand to family, friends or strangers. His gentle soul and kind heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife Gerri and his two daughters and their spouses; Judi and Thomas Jaworski of Vernon and Lisa and Robert Cascio of Hebron. He was also blessed with two granddaughters; Alexandra Cascio and Jessica Cascio who were his pride and joy. Poppy never hesitated to jump on a bike, kick a soccer ball or shoot some hoop. He spent every chance he had with his granddaughters and truly enjoyed spoiling them. Bill also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins who have filled his home and heart over the years. Bill enjoyed entertaining family at picnics in his well groomed backyard and could often be found behind the grill on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon for hours at a time....some came to know him as the grill master! In his earlier years, Bill, along with his dad and brothers built homes along the Old Lyme shoreline and the greater Hartford area. He spent many summers at the beach and in time became an avid boater, cruising the Long Island Sound on his 36 foot teak ""Chinese Junk"" sailboat.
After marrying Gerri and settling in East Hartford with his daughters, Bill vacationed to the shore often and continued to fish and boat whenever possible. Billy was a family man and always put his family first in every thought and action. He was a man of incredible character. His smile was infectious. Dad we will miss you! Poppy, we love you always and know you are looking over us every day from the best seat in the house! The soccer games will be much easier to watch now. Bill, you were a wonderful husband, father and friend. You fought so hard to stay here with us but now you can rest in peace.
