On Thursday, September 20, 2018, we said good-bye to our beloved grandmother, mother, sister, and best friend, Yolanda “Nanny” (Santilli) DePamphilis. Born on August 18, 1921 in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy to Assunta Palombizio and John Santilli. Yolanda and her mother arrived in America at Ellis Island in 1935 to meet her father. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” DePamphilis in 1946 after World War II, and together they raised three daughters, Angela, Linda, and Louise. Prior to her retirement she was a dedicated employee at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford and as a Manager at McDonald’s Restaurant on Main Street, Glastonbury for over 20 years. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, caring individual who always put others first and herself last. Yolanda was a great cook and loved cooking for her family and friends and was an avid long-time New York Yankee fan. Although she loved her entire family very much, they loved her more and will continue to love her forever.
Yolanda leaves behind her three daughters, Louise DePamphilis, Linda DePamphilis, and Angela Phillips; three granddaughters, Josephine “Josie” Carlisle and her husband Paul who were her caregivers and with whom she made her home, Sheryl Clark and her husband Neil, and Tina Phillips; four great-granddaughters, Gianna, Amanda, Skye, and Gabriel; her beloved sister, Carmela “Millie” Santilli; six beloved cousins, Onorino, Anna, Maria, Don, Tony, and Anna; a special friend, Paul; several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
