Con el corazón lleno de tristeza pero también de profunda gratitud por una vida bien vivida, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Alberto Portillo el 24 de mayo de 2025 en El Paso, TX. Fue un amoroso esposo, padre devoto, orgulloso abuelo, hermano cariñoso y amigo fiel. Falleció en paz, rodeado de su familia, dejando un legado de amor, fortaleza, fe y alegría.

Alberto estuvo casado con el amor de su vida, Carmen, durante 50 hermosos años. Carmen permaneció fielmente a su lado en cada etapa, honrando sus votos en la salud y en la enfermedad. Su matrimonio fue un verdadero testimonio de amor duradero y compañerismo.

Hombre de profunda fe católica, Alberto vivió cada día con una entrega inquebrantable a Dios. Fue un orgulloso Caballero de Colón de Cuarto Grado, comprometido con el servicio, la oración y su comunidad. Su fe lo guiaba e inspiraba a todos los que lo conocían.

Poseía una mente aguda y un ingenio vivaz, siempre listo para contar una historia, hacer una broma o dar un consejo bien intencionado. Ya fuera arreglando algo en casa o supervisando un proyecto con su hijo y su yerno, tenía un don natural para guiar a otros y encontrar soluciones.Incluso cuando su salud se debilitaba, su espíritu fuerte y positivo nunca flaqueó. Enfrentó cada desafío con valentía y gracia, siempre con una mirada optimista y alentando a los demás a hacer lo mismo.

Alberto fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Polidoro y Sofía Portillo, y su hermana, Elvira González. Él deja en vida a su amada esposa, Carmen Portillo; a su hija, Rocío Portillo Chávez, y su esposo Thomas; a su hijo, Alberto Portillo Jr., y su esposa Erin. Fue un orgulloso abuelo de Thomas Jr. y Aidan Chávez, y de Joaquín, Sara y Lily Portillo. También le sobreviven sus hermanos y hermanas:

Manuel Portillo (esposa Jenny), Graciela Ochoa, Alicia Kamrowski (esposo Steve), Polidoro Portillo Jr. (esposa Evelyn), Carmen Correa (esposo Pete), José Portillo (esposa Lourdes), Alfredo Portillo (esposa Amanda) y Olivia García (esposo Héctor). Lo recuerdan con cariño numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas y una gran familia extendida.

Será profundamente extrañado por todos los que lo conocieron, pero su memoria vivirá para siempre en el amor que compartió, las sonrisas que provocó y la fe que encarnó todos los días de su vida.

La familia desea expresar su más sincero agradecimiento a Sandra, quien con amor y dedicación ayudó a cuidar de Alberto junto a su esposa durante los últimos ocho años de su vida, y a Laura, cuya presencia y cuidado durante los últimos dos años brindaron consuelo y tranquilidad adicionales. Su entrega, compasión y apoyo fueron una verdadera bendición para toda la familia.

La velación se llevará a cabo el miércoles 28 de mayo de 2025 de 5 p.m. a 8 p.m. con el Santo Rosario a las 6 p.m. en Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 E. Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938. La misa fúnebre se llevará a cabo el jueves 29 de mayo de 2025 a las 10 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. El sepelio se llevará a cabo en una fecha posterior en el cementerio de Sagrado Corazón, en Rowlett, Texas.

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Alberto Portillo on May 24, 2025 in El Paso, TX — a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, caring brother, and faithful friend. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, faith, and joy.

Alberto was married to the love of his life, Carmen Portillo, for 50 beautiful years. Carmen stood faithfully by his side through every season, honoring their vows in both sickness and in health. Their marriage was a true testament to enduring love and partnership.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Alberto lived each day with unwavering devotion to God. He was a proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, committed to service, prayer, and community. His faith guided him and inspired all who knew him.

He had a sharp mind and a quick wit—always ready with a story, a joke, or some well-intentioned advice. Whether fixing something around the house or overseeing a project with his son and son-in-law, Alberto had a natural gift for guiding others and finding solutions.

Even as his health declined, his strong and positive spirit never wavered. He faced every challenge with courage and grace, always looking on the bright side and encouraging others to do the same.

Alberto was preceded in death by his parents, Polidoro and Sofia Portillo, and his sister, Elvira Gonzalez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carmen Portillo; his daughter, Rocio Portillo Chavez, and her husband Thomas; his son, Alberto Portillo Jr., and his wife Erin. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas Jr. and Aidan Chavez, and to Joaquin, Sara, and Lily Portillo. He is also survived by his siblings: Manuel Portillo (wife Jenny), Graciela Ochoa, Alicia Kamrowski (husband Steve), Polidoro Portillo Jr. (wife Evelyn), Carmen Correa (husband Pete), Jose Portillo (wife Lourdes), Alfredo Portillo (wife Amanda), and Olivia Garcia (husband Hector). He is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the love he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the faith he embodied every day of his life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sandra, who lovingly supported and helped care for Alberto alongside his wife during the last eight years of his life, and to Laura, whose presence and care over the last two years brought added comfort and peace. Their dedication, compassion, and support were a true blessing to the entire family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East, 12400 E. Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial to be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rowlett, Texas.
