Alberto Romero, 93, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Mr. Romero was a lifelong resident of El Paso and the last surviving member of the 87th Infantry, the Golden Acorn, which served in Europe.
He was a devoted husband, survived by wife of 70 years Catalina S. Romero, his son Richard Romero (Adele Frost Romero), his daughter Maria Teresa Dawood and Cecilia Al-Fahad, his grandchildren Monica and Leo Escandon, Alia Al-Fahad, Alexandra and Stephen Romero and his great granddaughter Karmann Escandon.
He was formerly employed by Sky Chef and retired from El Paso Natural Gas Company’s Hueco Club.
Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2017 from 5 to 9pm with vigil at 6pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 9:15am at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
