

On Friday, February 12, 2016, Alfred J. Ochoa passed away at the age of 88 after bravely and optimistically living with cancer for almost seven years. Mr. Ochoa was one of thirteen children and grew up in Chicago during the Great Depression. Mr. Ochoa served valiantly in the US Air Force during WWII and the Korean War. These early experiences shaped the courageous, industrious, and resourceful man he became. His parents, three brothers, five sisters, and his wife of thirty years, Mary Lou Ochoa, precede him in death. His family extends their profound gratitude to his doctors Ambrose Aboud, Larissa Szeyko, and Rafael Garcia for their excellent medical care, with heartfelt thanks to the excellent nurses at Providence Wound Care Center and to his home healthcare nurses and therapists who devoted themselves to Mr. Ochoa's continued treatment. Mr. Ochoa was blessed with the help and support of many concerned and loving neighbors during his illness, especially Maria C. Salas, Mr. and Mrs. Elias Mendoza, David and Dr. Amber Lucero and Kiva Lucero. Mr. Ochoa is survived by sons Daniel and David; daughters-in-law Julieta and Terri; six grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Cynthia, Isacc, Diana, Ninamarie, and Noah; five great-grandchildren, Willie, Celeste, Ariana, Amelie, and Isabella; four sisters, Helen Gonzales, Alice Mitchell, Beatrice Aboud, and Kathy Guyton; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 18th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with rosary at 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral mass will be Friday, February 19th at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Ave.
Pall Bearers: sons Daniel and David; grandsons Daniel Jr., Isacc, and Noah; and nephews Michael Aboud, Vernon Mitchell, and Zachary Sokolowski.
