Amalia (Mali) Booher, is preceded in death by Stan Booher, her beloved husband, her parents, Elias & Guadalupe Olivas and her siblings, Lucy Badeau, Mini Valdez, Trini Lozano, Mona Christianson, Juana Ordunez, Janie Vasquez, Manual Olivas, and Augustin Briones. She is Survived by her beloved sister Mary Aguilar.
She is also survived by her children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Stanley & Christie Booher (Johnathan and Alison), Jim & Susan Booher (Emily), and Barbara Walker (Chris & Verena Diaz, Maximilian and Felix), (Laura & Andrew Swallow and Haven),( Kat & Paull Kaiser, Ian and Kaden). The Olivas Family settled in Fairacres, NM. Mali was the first in her family to graduate from high school at Las Cruces Union High School. She joined the Woman’s Army Corps after she graduated. She met Stanley Booher, her future husband who was an Army soldier at Ft. Bliss, TX. After 20 years, dad retired and they moved their family back to El Paso, TX. Mali worked in civil service at Ft. Bliss until she retired. Mali was smart, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved poetry, reading, and gardening. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. She instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren a sense of wonder and curiosity, a love of nature, and the confidence to succeed in life. She leaves that and so, much more as legacy for all of us. Special thanks caregivers Gloria and Esther, Deacon Ramon Lozano, and Hospice El Paso.
Visitation will be on Monday August 2nd at Funeraria del Angel Central 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, TX 79903. Family visitation is from 5:00pm – 6:00pm, public visitation is from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Rosary will start at 7:00pm and will be delivered by Ramon Lozano, Mali’s nephew and will be livestreamed on Facebook Funeraria del Angel Central. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 3rd at 11am at St. Paul II Catholic Church, 6100 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM 88008, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at 1:00pm Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice El Paso, St. Paul II Catholic Church, or your favorite charity.
