Celebration of Life will begin shortly after the vigil.
Aurelio was born in Los Condes de Rio Grande, Zacatecas and immigrated to El Paso, Texas following the death of his father Vicente. He was only 3 years old accompanying his then single, working Mother Margarita Castro.
He grew up in “El Segundo Barrio” and met his wife of 45 years, Rebecca Castro, at Bowie High. They met in Mr. Frankenstein’s English class. Their high school days were filled with football games, dances eating at “Tacos con Pellos” and Dad’s athletic accomplishments.
His sports accomplishments included being a starter on the varsity football team as a freshman, shortstop for the baseball team and a member of the championship basketball team that was coached by the legendary Nolan Richardson.
He graduated in 1975 and went on to work at Denny’s washing dishes. He then had an introduction to what would become his life times work by being recruited to serve as a delivery driver for a dental laboratory. He was taken under the wing of his then boss and mentor Roberto Davila who encouraged him to learn the dental technician trade.
After about 6 years he decided to venture into the world of small business ownership. He started what would become C & J Dental Laboratory in the basement of their rental house. At this point, they had 3 children and despite Becky’s pleading for him to return to a secure full-time job, he ventured on. C & J Dental lab officially opened in October of 1983. And the doors remain open.
Rebecca and Aurelio shared a lifetime of memories together. They had 4 children Alejandro, Laura Isela, Erika Maite and Aurelio Junior and 10 grandchildren Michael, Alexandra, Anthony Andrew, James Lars, Juan Pablo, Stevie Ray, Viviana Maite, Jazmyn, Samantha and Benicio.
He was a social butterfly that knew people from all walks of life. He was a loving and generous man that had a significant influence on many lives; he cherished these relationships and spoke often of the impact they had on his life. Please join his family in this celebration and share your memories with all who knew him.
