Carlos Gonzalez, Sr. went home to his Holy Father on Friday, June 27, 2014. He was proud to have served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved baseball since childhood and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. Known to many as "Chili Chuck", he was past President of CASI and a member and founder of The Texas Tough Wild Bunch, participating in regional and national chili cook-offs. Carlos is predeceased by his loving daughter Linda Eve Gonzalez-Papke and his father Jesus Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Hermelinda Candelaria, his son Carlos Gonzalez, Jr, his brother Jesus Gonzalez(Margarita) and his grandchildren, Daniela, Robert, and Samantha Gonzalez. He is also survived by his nieces Arleen Tenorio, Darlene Hernandez, Cathy Quiroga, and Patsy Jaramillo. Pallbearers are: Leo Quiroga, Victor Tenorio, Sergio Jaramillo, Gerardo Hernandez, Leo Caraveo, and Eddie Contreras. Honorary Pallbearers are: Mike Vara, and Jesus Gonzalez. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 with the Rosary at 7 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 9 am at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
