Carlos “Kulos” Rodriguez Jr., 65, left our world on Tuesday, August 8th leaving behind a village of family and friends who weren’t ready to let him go. He graduated from El Paso High and was voted “Sexiest Legs”. He became an avid long distance runner, running marathons into his adulthood. He worked for Ft. Bliss Civil Service and, later, Raytheon where he met his best friends and partners in crime. Carlos was crazy, generous, and honest. He made friends with strangers, watered his grass barefooted, and frequented an array of El Paso’s finest watering holes and dives. His heart belonged to his family and taught them how to appreciate his love of travel, adventure, and friendships. He enjoyed fireworks, parades, and California beaches. He answered his phone at all hours of the night and came to the rescue of anyone who needed him. His infectious sense of humor radiated a room, and his car often ran out of gas. He made sure to call everyone at midnight on their birthday and always bought too much candy for Halloween. He was the best dad and grandpa EVER.
Carlos is survived by his wife (his bride) Tina, daughters Missy and Ashley, grandsons Ozzy and Quentin, granddaughter-to-be Pearl, sisters Olga, Sally, Yolanda, brother Ricardo, and loving nephews and nieces. Visitation: Thursday, 8/17 from 5-9pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral mass: Friday, 8/18 at 1pm at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Interment at Ft. Bliss.
