There are no words to express the pain of losing someone who has meant so much to us. Born on March 1, 1944, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Petra and Vicente Solis, Carmen lived a life centered on faith, family, and thoughtful kindness. A devout Catholic, her faith was a guiding light throughout her journey.
She was more than just our mother; she was a source of love, strength, comfort, and so many precious memories that we will carry in our hearts forever. She attended Bowie High School, was an avid reader who loved collecting books, and cherished spending quality time surrounded by her dear friends. Carmen always enjoyed looking her best—never feeling quite complete without her lipstick. Carmen possessed a remarkably vivid memory and loved sharing the rich stories of her life.
She was a woman who cherished life’s moments and knew how to make the people around her feel deeply loved. She had a heartfelt gift for sending greeting cards for every occasion, always finding the exact right words for each person. In her free time, she found peace in her love for lighthouses, and though she couldn't attend as many in her later years, she always cherished the joy and excitement of going to concerts.
Although our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the time we were blessed to have with her, for the love she gave us, and for the memories that will never fade. No matter how much time passes, she will always be a part of us, and her love will continue to guide us throughout our lives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Petra and Vicente Solis; her husband, Carlos Alvarado; and her cherished grandsons, David and Shaquille.
Carmen’s memory will be forever treasured by her loving children: John Enriquez and his wife Lisa, Margarita Enriquez, Erika Salazar, and Melissa Martinez and her husband Joseph. She is also survived by her devoted grandchildren: Joshua, Jessica, Ashlee, Zakary, Madelyn, and Eli; and her precious great-grandchildren: Xiamara, Avelino Jr., Yakira, and Amelia, along with a host of extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Mom, you were so deeply loved, and you will be missed more than words could ever express. Until we meet again, may you rest peacefully. We love you forever.
