Born to Maria Godoy Molina and Felix Almanza Molina on September 20, 1943. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Bertha M. Holguin and Hortencia Molina. He is survived by two brothers Roberto G. Molina and George Molina. Several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He graduated from Stephan F. Austin H.S. in 1962 where he participated in track and field and played football. He was a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. At 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve (Division 8-81 L). He was the first in his family to receive a bachelor’s degree in 1973. During his freshman year at Texas Western College (UTEP) he was called to active duty during the Vietnam conflict and served aboard the warship U.S.S. Constellation CVA-64. Charlie was a proud and loyal Veteran. He was one of four Deputy Grand Marshalls in the 1966 New Year’s Day parade representing the U.S. Navy. He also participated in the Honor Guard of the 31st Sun Bowl. He was a charter member and secretary for UTEP’s XGI “Chi Gamma Iota”, a veterans’ service organization, and a member of the Kiwanis Circle K International where he served as secretary and Lt. Governor for West Texas and New Mexico.
Throughout his life he served in the El Paso community: He volunteered as liaison for KHEY, Y-96 Secret Santa for underprivileged children in the southside for over 25 years. He was a vice president and board member of the International Festival de la Zarzuela, Charter Member to the Concordia Heritage Association and the Mission Trail Association.
Charlie was also a Life Member of Seaman-Davis VFW Post 812 and a member of the American Legion. He felt very fortunate to have traveled to Asia, Europe, Central America, Canada, and Mexico. Charlie enjoyed being an educator and tried to encompass the love of learning to his students. He taught at Cathedral H.S. and served as the Spanish Dept. chair. He also taught for EPISD at Andress H.S. and helped sponsor the junior class. At Burges H.S. he served on the CIT, Honors Committee, and Values Committee. He loved walking, watching the World Series and college sports.
He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6th from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 pm. Committal Service will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd. with military honors.
