Dolores Montelongo, also known as Lola, was born on February 8th, 1929. She was a wife, beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend. Dolores passed away peacefully surrounded by love on September 19th, 2023. Her life was a tapestry woven with extraordinary love, resilience, and a zest for the simple pleasures that brought her so much joy.
Dolores’s love story with her husband, Rodolfo Montelongo, was truly one for the ages. Their love bloomed through the years as they welcomed four beautiful children into their lives, Rudy, Estela, Laura and Graciela. The connection between Dolores and Rodolfo was unwavering and would spark a flame that burned bright for over seven decades. Theirs was a partnership built on loyalty, respect, and a love that transcended time and circumstance. Their love was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they created an eternal bond, for Lola’s heart belonged forever to Rodolfo, who made her feel cherished every day.
As a mother to four children, Dolores’s nurturing spirit overflowed in every aspect of her life. Her home was the embrace of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Her quick wit and her captivating storytelling had a way of enchanting hearts, painting vibrant pictures and laughter with her words. She had a unique ability to transform the simplest of moments into cherished memories, leaving an imprint on the hearts of all fortunate enough to share her presence.
Compassionate, kind, and dedicated to her faith, Lola was a beacon of light to all who crossed her path. Her dedication to her family knew no limits, and the love she showered upon her children and grandchildren was immeasurable. She celebrated their triumphs, wiped away their tears, embraced them with open arms, made them laugh when they needed it most and never forgot a birthday. Through her actions, she taught us all the true meaning of love and family.
Lola’s infectious love and warm spirit touched the lives of all she encountered and spilled into all the delicious culinary treats she made for those that she loved. Friends and family would gather at the table, their taste buds dancing in delight at all the flavors emanating from her kitchen. Her hands like magic wands, would transform simple ingredients into the most wonderful meals, and the laughter and joy that accompanied those meals will forever be etched in the hearts of those lucky enough to have tasted her love.
With a laugh that could light up the darkest of rooms, Dolores embraced the simple pleasures of life. She found solace in the mountains, where she would marvel with her family at nature’s beauty, finding peace in the tranquility that surrounded her.
Dolores’s kindness, love and warm presence touched countless individuals. Her legacy will endure, reminding us to live our lives full of love and laughter, and to cherish the simple joys that brought her immense happiness.
Dolores is survived by her daughters Laura and Estela, son Rudy and her loving husband, Rodolfo. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Graciela.
May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her incredible love will forever guide and inspire us.
A visitation for Dolores will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a vigil at 6:30 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral mass will be Friday, September 29, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Santo Nino De Atocha Catholic Church, 210 S Clark Drive, El Paso, Texas 79905, with a committal service to follow at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas 79938.
