Durenda Cerie Woodruff

Heaven welcomed a new Angel on April 22, 2026, at 6:10 p.m., when Durenda Cerie Woodruff passed away peacefully in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 23, 1954, in El Paso, Texas.

Durenda lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering faith in the Lord. She dedicated much of her life to serving her church community, working as a secretary at Apollo Heights Baptist Church. She found great joy in attending services, singing in the choir, and strengthening her relationship with God.

Family was at the center of Durenda’s life. She cherished time spent with loved ones, especially the tradition of gathering at her sister’s home on Saturdays to play games, cook, bake, and simply enjoy one another’s company. These moments brought her immense happiness and created lasting memories for all who shared them.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children: her son David Ruiz, his wife Erika, and their children, Chase, Victoria, and Krystian; her daughter Tammy Kitchens, her husband Chad, and their children, Keelan and Seraya; her daughter Currissa Ruiz and her children, Kiana, Mariah, and great-grandson Jiraiya; her son Corey Woodruff, his partner Jessica, and their children, Melvin and Austin. She is also survived by her three sisters, Donna, Debi, and Denisa, with whom she shared a close and joyful bond—they often joked that they traveled everywhere as a pack. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and loving spirit.

Durenda was preceded in death by her parents, Donald L. and Barbara A. Lane, who were there to welcome her home, along with many other beloved family members.

Durenda will be remembered for her gentle heart, her warmth, and her kindness toward everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del angel central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903.
