Elizabeth S. Davis

Born December 18, 1927, in Elk Point, SD to William and Eva (Card) Schulz.A 1945 graduate of Elk Point High School, she advanced in her studies to graduate in 1948 from Sioux Valley School of Nursing while a cadet in the United States Nurse Corp (aimed at recruiting nurses to alleviate the shortage during WWII). She attained the rank of Captain while in the Army Reserves. She worked as a nursing instructor at Sioux Valley Hospital in the 1950's. She also went on to earn a Master of Science from Augustana College (now Augustana University) in the early 1960s and by the mid-1960s she moved to Las Cruces, NM as director of the practical nursing school there.

She married Lucian A. Davis on may 9, 1967. They resided in El Paso and Betty continued her work teaching at the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing through its transition into the University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing until her retirement in 1990.

Betty enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and organizing craft events at her local church. she was a lover of Scottie dogs(as evidence by the number she raised) who provided her companionship over her lifetime.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lucian and her parents, William and Eva Schulz. her Funeral services will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in El paso with burial back at her hometown of Elk Point, SD.
