Enedina was born on November 17, 1931, in Del Rio, Texas to Antonio and Piedad Chavez, and grew up in Sonora, Texas. She graduated from Texas Women’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree and majored in Elementary Education. In 1954, she started teaching in Eagle Pass, Texas where she later met Ricardo L. Rodriguez. The couple were married on August 22, 1964, and moved to El Paso, Texas. Enedina taught at Burleson Elementary for 2 years, but went on leave to have her son Ricardo Jr. She returned to teaching in 1966 where she was assigned to Cooley Elementary. She taught there for over 28 years and finally retired in 1994. In total, she taught for 40 years in the elementary public school system. Teaching was her passion. She was a member of the Theta Iota Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International since 1981. Enedina was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she taught CCD (catechism) and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Altar Society.
Enedina is survived by her son Ricardo C. Rodriguez Jr., her sister Esther Rios, and her brother Antonio Chavez. She is preceded in death by her husband Ricardo L. Rodriguez, and her brother Sixto Chavez.
Visitation for Enedina will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Vigil at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral mass will be Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903. A committal service will follow Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Mt Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79915.
