Enrique was born into his family on June 9th, 1932, in Tucson, Arizona. His family eventually moved to Juarez, Mexico where he spent his formative years. Enrique, his sister Guillermina, and his father Mariano, moved to El Paso where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Enrique was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School, where he met the Portillo brothers, which created a lifelong relationship. Enrique was known as “Uncle Henry” to all his adopted nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and recall the many monumental occasions in the Portillo family that he was present for.
Enrique was Godfather to three nephews (David Portillo, Christopher Carcerano and Greg Portillo) as well as his grandnephew William Portillo.
Enrique spent most of his life as an accountant/comptroller for Falcon Industrial Supply where he worked for two generations of the Roblin Family. He put his heart and soul into the company and worked up until a week before he passed. Enrique loved to travel, which included frequenting the Metropolitan as a connoisseur of opera.
Enrique was a devout Catholic and a great supporter of Catholic Education.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mariano, and Belen (Serrano) Oviedo, and his sister Guillermina Oviedo Soto. He is survived by numerous cousins and four generations of his embraced Portillo family.
A visitation for Enrique will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903, with Vigil at 6:30 PM. Funeral mass will occur Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 8:30 AM at Loretto Academy Chapel, 1300 Hardaway St., El Paso, Texas.
